Heard raving reviews about Astonish and decided to pay it a visit!
We tried their:
- Peanut butter waffles (New) – So-so
- Nutella waffles – Slightly better
- Green tea latte – Awesome
I apologise for the lack of pictures of the shop’s environment because it turned out really blurry (most of my dark photos turn out that way 😦 ) The place was only so-so well lighted. With trying to fit in so many vintage lighting pieces into the decoration, often the lighting seems a little off here and there, especially if you want to take photos! That being said, the shop’s filled with loads of vintage stuff; from books and lights to the chairs and tables. It’s pretty cozy & a pretty great place just to hang although it is a little pricy. The staff were also very nice.
The waffles were pretty thick and crispy which was great. It comes with little sides of ice-cream, whipped cream, maple syrup…etc depending on the order. The only little thing was that the chocolate or peanut butter comes on as really rich and thick, by the end of the dish you would have felt a little overwhelmed with the richness of it all and maybe struggle with finishing it like my friend & I did. The peanut butter waffle especially. The Nutella one was much better.
Green tea latte
This was awesome. For someone who really likes matcha, this was pretty satisfying. I prefer this much more to the one served in Sir Cafe. Would totally order it again, although it does taste very similar to that served at Phat Coffee on Hindley Street. Whichever place is more convenient for you.
On another note, sorry I have not been updating this site for a while. Immediately after finishing my finals, I flew off to New Zealand for almost two weeks. Can’t wait to share some shots of the beautiful scenery there with you! It may take a while though, I have 3,000++ worth of photos to sift through!! Wish me luck.
See you soon, friends!
